How ApsarasV got started
Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?
My Etsy shop is, for me, a piece of art; it is what I am trying to do. To make the later a visually attractive, colorful, pleasant, enthusiastic, and constantly moving picture where everyone is free to lose, to learn, and to find his stone, his jewel, his treasure. The idea of selling on Etsy came from a friend who was a buyer on this platform. I started without any pretension and without imagining the success that would come from it. I found it exciting and interesting to learn a new art form that is photography and to explore the world, new to me, of digital, which offers incredible artistic possibilities and an opening to the world without limit.
To search for stones I regularly go to Asia, to local markets, small stores on street corners, or gigantic ultramodern buildings, but also to different fairs where it is possible for me to meet other travelers in love with stones who travel the world to find wonders. The most important thing for me is ethics and respect. I maintain a relationship of trust with my suppliers; we work together with each other so that we can "grow", can "bloom, together in kindness.
I select my stones patiently with all my experience and knowledge, not only for their qualitative aspect but also for what they inspire me. There can be a lot of beauty and magic in the inclusion of an "imperfection", It is necessary that the stone "speaks" to me, that I am sensitive to it, and only then do I feel able to design and adjust its setting.
In jewelry, as in music, in painting, or in any other form of art, the simplicity, the pure line, can be much more difficult to achieve, but these are the lines that touch in depth the sensitivity of the hearts. This is what I wish for my customers: beyond a simple piece of jewelry, I like to imagine that it carries with it a beautiful story, a musical line, something that feels good when you look at it.
Favorite items
What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?
It is difficult for me to say what would be my favorite jewel; they are all unique, and every stone is also. It is a work of cooperation, comprehension, and enthusiasm at every stage. from stone selection to design and manufacturing. Nevertheless, there is one that could be on top: the one that made my reputation and is at the origin of my visual identity; it is the foundation of ApsarasV.
Getting sales on Etsy
How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?
Sales for Etsy started shortly after I first went online. Without doing any series, it took two to three years with enough published articles to be able to consider my shop to have a serious potential turnover. I think that to succeed on Etsy, it is necessary to publish regularly, consider the expectations of its customers, offer them impeccable service, and offer them original articles and qualities.
Managing ApsarasV
How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?
I work alone in the shop; to be effective, I had to organize myself rigorously and equip myself with quality equipment. I try to work there every day outside of my exhibition and travel periods. I use a photo studio connected to a Canon photo display and software that allows me to photograph directly from my iMac. I design my photos of worn jewelry and edit my videos with my iPhone. I then share my posts on Pinterest and Facebook. I also use Etsy advertising, adjusting my daily budget according to the times of the year.
