How DigitalArtByChao got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

Hey! My name is Anastasia. I am a digital artist. I have been working for Etsy since 2019.I started my journey on Etsy with digital portraits in a cartoon style.

Over time, I learned how to draw in a realistic style and also learned how to create brushes for the Procreate application.And now my main focus is on brushes and stamps for Procreate.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

My favorite product is the Procreate portrait brush set. Procreate portrait brushes because it is a basic digital drawing kit that I use in my daily work.

I also love my Procreate blending brush set, which you can find here. It's incredible.

But in general, all my favorite products are because I put a lot of time and effort into creating them and bringing them to perfection. I went from scratch to an experienced artist on my own.

I learned to draw without help, and therefore I know what a novice artist and an experienced one need to improve their drawing skills and facilitate the process of creating digital art.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

My first sales on Etsy, as I said, were portraits to order. I already had several thousand followers on Instagram. I received requests for cartoon portraits and realized that there was a demand for them.

So, my first sale on Etsy happened within a week. Currently, I still use my Instagram for promotion (@art.by.chao welcome lol), as well as Pinterest and internal advertising on Etsy.

Managing DigitalArtByChao

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I manage my store on my own without anyone's help. I often try new services that help me work on Etsy because I am a creator, designer, and advertising specialist for myself. I spend a lot of time conducting marketing research and analyzing products and competitors. To do this, I like to use third-party services like eRank. It's pretty easy for me to work, so I have digital goods and I don't need to monitor the postal delivery.

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

My goal is to continue to grow professionally and create cool products, as well as raise my sales on Etsy.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

Don't be afraid to try! But do not forget about the analysis of supply and demand; this is the most important thing before starting sales. And do not despair if there is no stunning result at first. Everything needs time.
