How EnglishRosesDesigns got started
Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?
English Roses Designs is a place where I can express my creative designs and share them with others. I am originally from England (UK) and came to the US many years ago, hence the name English Roses Designs. My influences are definitely based in the fantasy realm and my British origins. I began my store on Etsy because I was creating and wasn't really sure where to sell my items online. I thought I’d give Etsy a try, and it’s been very fulfilling to reach people and share my art. All my pieces are handmade, from the jewelry to the art dolls. All my art dolls are hand sculpted from polymer clay without the use of molds, so each one is one of a kind and has its own personality. I do purchase the components for my jewelry and then use my own designs.
Favorite items
What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?
My favorite items are my art dolls, from the tree toppers to the wall hangings, because sculpting is my favorite thing to do.
Getting sales on Etsy
How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?
It took me about 10 days to make my first sale, as I needed to figure out keywords and the correct categories to use. Now social media helps to get my name out there and is definitely the right keyword.
Managing EnglishRosesDesigns
How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?
I am the one who runs my shop, and the dashboard is an essential tool that aids in all aspects of the business. A handy app I use is FotoFuze for pictures, as it takes the background out of my pictures easily. I use Etsy for all my shipping fulfillment, as the discount is pretty good.
The future of EnglishRosesDesigns
What goals do you have for your shop in the future?
My art is constantly evolving, and I want my store to hopefully grow with my work.
Advice for new sellers
What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?
