How FHYGGE got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

Since I was very little, I have always been passionate about creative arts and crafts. In fact, I studied fine arts and also have a Master's in design and communication, plus another in digital marketing. I fell in love with decoration, and after working in other sectors, I decided to start and have my own brand. A path full of joys and sorrows that requires a lot of work, but it is gratifying to see the evolution. Our brand offers a range of products that are not only based on rugs and cushions, as seen in this Etsy shop, but there is more on our website.

Regarding the brand:

FHYGGE is a sustainable and animal-friendly lifestyle and home décor brand that offers high-quality, durable, and environmentally friendly products for a conscious home.

Fhygge was created as a name to reflect our values and intentions. It comes from the fusion of the Danish concept "Hygge,"  which we can translate as the mixture of well-being, coziness, comfort, and freedom, and the Chinese term Feng," which comes from Taoist philosophy and defines the harmonious occupation of a space. Hygge + Feng = Fhygge. These two concepts together perfectly define our philosophy and values as a brand.

We believe in a fair world for the planet, people, and animals for current and future generations.

Our goal is to offer handcrafted, environmentally friendly, ethical, and cruelty-free products to help people live more intentionally, and in many cases, we offer the customer the ability to customize the piece within our options.

For us, creating a conscious home means balancing beauty, design, practicality, and sustainability.

Our perfect home is a sanctuary away from the stresses of modern life.

A place of calm, a place to rest, relax, slow down, and feel truly comfortable.

We believe in using a combination of simple and soft eco-friendly tones, textures, and materials in a way that mimics nature, which will help you stay connected to mother earth. It can also create a cozy and peaceful atmosphere with a sense of serenity, even in the busiest of homes.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

The truth is that I do not have a favorite product since each model has its particularities. However, as a lover of natural fibers, I would say that jute rugs fit very well with our philosophy, as do cotton rugs.

Currently, I have launched a new product that is made from recycled mattresses from the 19th century. And I love this project since, in this way, we fight for local, recycled, vintage, and unique collections. These are the cushions whose results we really like:

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

If my memory serves me correctly, I would say it took a month or so to get the first sale on Etsy. In order to attract new customers to the store, there are certain factors that are worked on, such as bringing out news, offering a good service, and creating content and photos according to the product.

Managing FHYGGE

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

The person in charge of running the store is me, preparing orders, shipping, designs, manufacturing, photos, texts, etc. However, I cannot forget that at Fhygge we have artisans who help us give life to our products, whether it is a finished product or pieces to later make my own creations.

The future of FHYGGE 

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

I would love to be able to expand the catalog and offer faster shipping. I also have another Etsy shop open, FhyggeMossArt, that I still have to improve a lot to have sales. Since I trust these products a lot.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

To all those who decide to open a store on Etsy, I can say that thanks to this, I can live from my business because Etsy attracts a lot of customers. Focus on following the guidelines of this platform and working well on SEO, your texts, and your photos.
