How Holzschmuckunikate got started
Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?
I only make wooden jewelry and articles of daily use, such as wooden letter openers. I started my sales on the DaWanda platform, which recommended users switch to Etsy when the portal closed its service. In addition, Etsy gave users the opportunity to transfer its entire product range free of charge. I manufacture all my products myself, and I have had the material for this in my stock for many years. I rarely have to buy anything else or a new piece of wood.
Favorite items
What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?
My favorites in sales are hair sticks and hair accessories; necklaces are also very popular. I mostly sell pieces with a natural edge here.
Getting sales on Etsy
How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?
Sales on Etsy started right after the transfer from DaWanda, without a break. I have a link on my website and post my articles on Instagram and Pinterest.
Managing Holzschmuckunikate
How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?
I do it all by myself, and it works well. I rarely have any stress with the process. I take pictures with a simple Canon camera, which is quite sufficient, edit the pictures with PhotoScape, and use the Etsy apps on smartphones and tablets. I ship with DHL Germany and the Post in a sturdy corrugated cardboard box.
