How HypnoTransformations got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

My Shop is Hypnotransformations.etsy.com. I began selling hypnosis MP3 downloads after my personal therapy clients kept asking me for my in-person hypnosis sessions to be recorded so they could listen to them later. I thought, "Well, I’m already covering a number of topics; I might as well record them and sell them on Etsy".

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

My favourite sessions are the new-age  topics. I’ve always loved topics that were a little different and also helpful. So increasing your intuition (psychic ability) and Past Life Regression are my two favourites. I get messages all the time about those sessions where people share their stories with me.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

About two weeks. At the time, Etsy had very robust forums and Promo threads in the forums. I used to spend a lot of time there sharing about my topics. Now, I share on various sites, but mainly on Facebook.

Managing HypnoTransformations

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

Yes, it is only me. Etsy makes it pretty easy. My products are all digital downloads. So, most of the sessions are set to instant download. Some of the others I need to send manually because they are too "large" in file size to use the automated option. When I get a sale, I acknowledge the sale, go to wetransfer.com and email the large file, then email the customer and mark the sale as finished.

The future of HypnoTransformations 

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

Honestly, right now I sell a number of other products online, and this shop has been on the back burner for me. I don’t do any marketing at all for it. Maybe one day I will put my attention back on it and start to build an audience for the products. When I started this shop, I knew nothing about email marketing and sales funnels! Now, I know a tonne but haven’t had the time to properly market to the right audience.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

Develop a way to actually have a customer base. Build an email list that you can sell to and promote new products to. A great way to get started with that is to learn from Amy Porterfied about list building and email marketing.

Answer: 2.2% but that is with no marketing what so ever. This is mainly jus from SEO and etsy’s algorithm.
