How LinenDeep got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

A good friend of mine told me about the Etsy platform, and I decided to give it a try because the internet has no boundaries. I also thank my whole family for their support and faith in my strength, especially my husband and daughters, who are also my models. I already had a small workshop where they repaired clothes, so there was somewhere to start creating and sewing. Why nightwear? We spend most of our lives sleeping, and I would like to make it as comfortable as possible. This clothing is ideal for both sleeping and relaxing at home.

The store also takes an environmentally friendly approach as it is made from natural linen fibers and requires less energy to produce. The use of washed linen gives it a vintage and casual look, and the process also increases the fabric's absorbency and breathability. I am a passionate designer and have been honing my craft since I was 5 years old. My ancestors were engaged in the linen industry in the late 19th century in Latvia, and I decided to work with linen fabric to create comfortable and stylish clothes. I create high-quality clothes for home and sleep. I draw inspiration from my travels and movies, paying attention to how people dress and using that influence in my designs. Each order is made individually; I handle everything from model creation to final production. Now I already have a seamstress assistant.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

I like all of my items, but, of course, I have favorites. The first one is Linen Nightgown. I love it for its roomy design and feminine look. It's a best seller too.

The second is a long nightgown with laces and a ruffled bottom. I love it because it’s long. This model is popular too.

My favorite pajama set is Linen Pajama Set for Women. It’s very good for home wear too. And my customers love it.

And finally, the first-night bridal nightgown. It is just gorgeous!

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

I made my first sale within the first week of opening. I must be very lucky! First, the client wrote to me about her wishes, and I did everything she wanted. I received a wonderful review from a client, for which I am very grateful today. I opened an Etsy store in late spring, which is definitely important for linen products because they are very good in hot weather. I studied offers of similar products on Etsy and also registered a store account on Instagram, where at the beginning I used paid promotion. I also use paid advertising on Etsy, and it pays for itself. I always try to answer all the questions of clients, and this produces results.

Managing LinenDeep

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I manage my shop myself; I use Etsy applications and, of course, the Internet browser, so I can manage it anywhere and almost at any time of the day if I don’t sleep. I live very close to the city, and getting to the post office is not a problem. We also have a very convenient system for registering parcels, which saves me a lot of time.

The future of LinenDeep

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

In the future, I would like to be engaged only in the creation of models and their designs in my shop. That's what I'm aiming for, and it's already starting to work. I spend a certain part of my earnings on new sewing equipment and the arrangement of the workplace.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

To begin with, if you already have an idea for a product, the study offers of similar products on Etsy, as well as the prices for these products, and calculate at what price you can sell your product. Calculate the production time of the goods so that it is within reasonable limits. Don't forget to find out how long the shipment will take because you can send goods all over the world! Think about paid advertising; be sure to take good product photos; this is the most important thing for working on the Internet; make short but meaningful descriptions of your products; and create social media accounts to attract potential customers. And do not be discouraged by failures; you need to learn from them and use the lessons they teach.

Some sellers really get inspired by hearing numbers. Feel free to share these if you like.
