How MarcyCoateDesigns got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

I opened my Etsy shop in 2017. My first products were digital scrapbooking downloads, but after a few years, I began making printables for card making, junk journaling, and other paper crafts. I source the artwork that I use in my creations from vetted commercial use sources and/or public domain images, putting the various elements together and adding my own touches. I spend a lot of time studying trends in journaling and other paper crafts to make sure that my digital products are pleasing to my customers.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

My favorite things to make are papers and ephemera for junk journals, and these are also my best-selling items.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

My first sales were almost immediate, as I already had a following due to a newsletter that I created many years ago. People sign up for it to get freebies, and when I send out the newsletter, I let them know about new products. I also have a blog where I post my latest creations. I offer free crafting tutorials on my YouTube channel, and last year I created a private Facebook group where I can interact with my followers and they can share photos of projects that they have made using my digitals.

Managing MarcyCoateDesigns

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I run my store by myself. There is no shipping or fulfillment because Etsy automatically handles the delivery of digital downloads after the customer has paid.

The future of MarcyCoateDesigns

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

I want to continue creating new digitals that inspire my customers to make something beautiful.
