How MosquitoneroShop got started
Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?
It all started as a game, a passion, that of wanting to create with my own hands and put my own into it, I had already seen too many tutorials and people showing what they could do. Now I want to try it too, I said to myself! This led me to use different techniques, from macrame to polymer clay, from resin to metal wire, from metal engraving to stones. Just the latter fascinated me, thinking that these mineral stones are given to us by our land and how they are created has something amazing. I still dedicate myself to enhancing these minerals with the help of my creativity which has taught me so much over the years.
Favorite items
What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?
The article that I like the most is this, and it is also the product that gives me the most satisfaction in making it, it takes about 1 hour and I have to stand under a lamp all the time, but it's really worth it in the end. It is one of the products that I sell and is often given as a gift because I am asked for the gift box.
Currently the products that I sell the most and of course I like to create them are these:
I enjoy creating bracelets with this technique, macrame, and if you add background music it becomes even relaxing.
Malachite is one of my favorite stones and on the market most are fake and are sold for real, this thing makes me very angry and that's why I decided to create products in Malachite, to appreciate the true beauty of this stone, in the intense green and in the play of light it creates.
Getting sales on Etsy
How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?
I remember my first sale, and I couldn't believe it! I had opened my shop for about 2 years and the first year I had left it alone, I didn't update it and I didn't insert products, (maybe I didn't think I could sell something) in the middle of the second year I get a sale and from there I got busy and took my shop more seriously.
My clients are drawn to me from my blog on my website.
Then I post on my social networks Pinterest -Twitter- Instagram - Facebook
Managing MosquitoneroShop
How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?
How many people are behind Mosquitonero ®? One person takes care of the stock of the material which must always arrive on time and respect the quality, another does market research, goes in search of products that are sought after, follows fashion and trends. The marketing department takes care of making new products visible to the world. One person is dedicated to the creation of the product, where it is created and destroyed in a few minutes, another person takes care of the photos of the product, about 10/12 photos are taken from various angles for each single product and then the best performing ones are kept, they are corrected with photo editing programs and finally the product page is created respecting the rules of the web, the last, no less important step, is given to the one who takes care of packaging and shipping, behind all this there is only one person. I.
The future of MosquitoneroShop
What goals do you have for your shop in the future?
My goals are to make my shop tidier, offer products more in line with the market and study SEO, marketing and communication. I want to create ever higher quality and unforgettable products.
Advice for new sellers
What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?
One piece of advice is: study SEO very well and practice a lot, start with a few products, it's fine to sell what we like to create but don't dwell on this alone, because you can't only sell things you like but you also have to think about others.
Some sellers really get inspired by hearing numbers. Feel free to share these if you like.
Question: How much is your monthly revenue?
Answer: It varies greatly from month to month
Question: What is your average profit margin?
Answer: The profit is low, thanks to the taxes in Italy, they are very high and I work out of passion and not for a real profit.
