How Roslynka got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

Hi, my name is Anna Paschenko. I am the owner, designer, photographer, and creature of my shop. Yes,  I do everything to make products of the best quality and to show them in the best way possible, so people will love them when they find them on Etsy. I started to sell on Etsy in 2014, which was just the beginning of our handcrafted manufacture. My friend recommended that I try to sell on Etsy because it is a good marketplace for my handmade products.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

All my items are about nature or consist of some nature parts, such as herbarium leaves and flowers. I love all the items I am selling, but as an artist, I have my favorite one. Pictures of preserved moss and plants are the inspiration for me. When I'm working on it, I totally disappear from this world and enter the world of the forest.

Preserved plants are plants that are specially grown and stabilized, after which they are tinted and retain their shape and color for many years. They don't need to be watered because they don't grow anymore, which makes maintenance very easy. It is convenient for people, and that is why such decor is becoming popular. I like that each picture is unique and has its own character, although I always work in the same style. I really love the forest, so I try to convey it in my work.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

Actually, I was surprised when I received my first order because my shop had a few listings. I was just working on adding more items and trying to make my shop pretty enough. I got my first order in about 2 weeks after I registered a shop. I always spend a lot of time making good photos and videos of items. I want buyers to see on the photo exactly what they receive and not be disappointed. Often I receive feedback that my art is even better alive than in photos! It makes me happy! Sometimes I make a discount so people can buy what they want for a cheaper price; that is like a thank you from me to everybody for supporting my shop.

Managing Roslynka

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

Now I have a girl who helps me add listings and works with stats. She monitors hashtags and gives me advice about what I should add to items for better sales. For example, now we are working on adding personalization. So, buyers can get items with handwritten calligraphy text. I don't use any specific app to run my store. It is easy for me to use only the Etsy app.

The future of Roslynka

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

My goal is to make a variety of products for home decoration so buyers can find everything they want in one shop.
