What is Etsy Promoted Listings
When you list items on your Etsy store, they appear for some search queries. However, if you opt to promote your listing, Etsy’s algorithms will present your product to a broader audience who might be interested in it.
If you look at the usual Etsy results page, you’ll notice ads by various Etsy stores. When you scroll down, you’ll see more Etsy ads after another three rows of products.
Once you promote your listing, it’s going to end up in one of those rows.

If you want your listing to perform well, make sure you’re using the relevant tags to your product. Otherwise, expect your listing to have low sales.
How to Boost Your Etsy Listings
If you’re interested in boosting your listings, you’ll be happy to learn that it’s straightforward to do it.

After clicking on Marketing, you’ll be able to see Promoted Listing in the dropdown. Click on it, and you can then click on the Start Advertising button.

Use the Ad Performance Section to your advantage. Click on the Manage button and then head over to the Advanced Settings section, where you’ll see multiple options available. Pay attention to the following:
- Enable bidding options - It’s better to see what your bidding options are. Otherwise, Etsy will determine that for you.

Beneficial Etsy Promoted Listings Tips
It’s easy to blow your money on poorly optimized ads. There are several things to consider if you want your promoted listings to perform well.
Choose the Right Listings
Start promoting listings that already sell great. The chances are that they will also perform well when you’re promoting them.
When it comes to new listings, advertising them is a complete gamble.
Trying to improve ones that sell poorly will turn out to be a complete waste of money.
Don’t Promote Too Many Listings
Tracking the performance of fewer listings is easier to do. Furthermore, it’s a better approach as you can pay closer attention to their performance.
If you advertise too many, it will be more challenging to track your listings’ performances.
Track and Adapt
Monitor how your ads are performing. Over time, you’ll see which items bring you the highest profits.
One of the key metrics to focus on is conversion rate. Do everything you can to increase it.
As you follow various Etsy metrics, prepare to adapt your ad campaigns to get better results.

How Does Etsy Charge
Etsy charges promoting listings per click. So when someone clicks on the ad, Etsy charges you for getting a customer to your store. In essence, your bid is how much you’re willing to pay per click.
When you head over to the Finances section, click on the Payment Account button. You’ll be able to see the ads’ performance and the overall bill.
The most important stats you can see are impressions, clicks, and costs.
Another Promotion Option: Etsy Offsite Ads
There’s one more way to promote your listings. It’s called Etsy Offsite Ads.
What are Etsy Offsite Ads?
Etsy Offsite Ads serves to promote your listings across various advertising platforms. To put it simply, Etsy will advertise your listings on channels such as:
- Bing
- Google Display Network
- Etsy Publishing Partner Sites
When your store is a part of the program, your listings will appear on these platforms.
Are You Eligible for Etsy Offsite Ads?
There’s one thing to keep in mind with Etsy ads. While all shops are eligible to promote via Offsite Ads, some traders will automatically become a part of it.
If your store sells less than $10,000 annually, using Etsy Offsite Ads is optional.
However, if your store earns more than $10,000 annually, it will automatically become a part of the program.
How Much Does It Cost?
Etsy Offsite Ads have fixed costs. If your store earns less than $10,000, your fee per sale is 15%. However, if it makes over $10,000, you get a discount of 12% because you have to use the program.
So how does it all work? If someone clicks on Etsy's ad, anything they buy from you in the next 30 days will cost you 12% to 15% of your listing’s price.
