How ForestForYou got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

Hello. My store is called Forest For You. I decided to name my store that way because I practically live in the forest, which inspires me with its beauty and diversity. In 2016, I lost my regular job and started looking for an alternative. My friend told me about the Etsy marketplace. I got acquainted with the site, and I liked the epoxy resin products because they allow me to work with plants and do not require large financial investments. The technology for making pendants seemed the simplest to me. I have posted about 50 works on Etsy. I saw the interest of buyers, but there were very few sales, and I thought about what else I could do. I have always liked the variety of trees and plants in my forest and decided to try making rings using different types of bark, wood, and dried plants. This turned out to be a good idea.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

I love all the rings in my shop, but I prefer curved rings because they are closer to natural lines with their free form and give more room for creativity. One of the rings became a bestseller, which makes me very happy. I think that people who buy these rings see them as a reflection of wildlife as opposed to the strict lines of the city that surround them in everyday life.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

After I posted my first rings, it took about a month before the first sale. The main tool to attract customers to my store is new designs and the search for new materials for them. At the moment, I cannot work full time due to the war in my country, so I post a few new listings, but I hope that in the near future, I will find the strength and inspiration to create new things in my store to please my customers.

Managing ForestForYou

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I do everything that is required of me to run my store. From time to time, I use tools to create sales or discount coupons. I do my main work myself. But in order to collect plants and other materials for my products, I can call on my children to help me with this. I can also ask my family members to help me with packing.

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

In the future, I would like to find new interesting materials and techniques for making my jewelry.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

I would advise beginners to boldly start something new and not be afraid of what may not work out. Success can be expected where one does not expect to find it.

Also, do not be upset if there are no sales for a long time, as this does not mean that the product is not interesting. You need to be patient and meet your buyer.

I would also advise listening to the wishes of customers and taking on the production of custom orders because this often leads to unusual ideas and the creation of new products.

I believe that Etsy is a platform of unlimited possibilities, and everyone can find their own way there.
